Good Friday

“He was pierced for our sins, crushed for our iniquity. He bore the punishment that makes us whole, by his wounds we were healed” (Is 53: 5). Jesus our King who rules from the Cross and conquers from the Cross is also Jesus our priest who intercedes from the Cross. In his Passion, he takes upon himself all the sin of humanity and transforms it into redemption.

Love is the hallmark of his kingship. It is the means by which he lives his priesthood. For Christ, love confronts pride to become obedience. Obedience confronts selfishness to become sacrifice. And sacrifice confronts justice to become redemption.
