Living in the Spirit: Day 2

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth. O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

“Knowing the Voice of the Spirit” by Lisa Small, CRC:

Take some time to ponder the mystery of God’s action through his Spirit in the events of your own life and ask for the light, strength, and love so sorely need in witnessing as a Christian in today’s world.

  • Who is the Holy Spirit for me?
  • How do I relate and experience his presence?
  • How has the Holy Spirit impacted my life?
  • What advice would I share to help someone grow in a relationship with the Holy Spirit after listening to this personal testimony?

Novena Prayer (Joy & Peace)

Spirit of joy, come and fill our hearts with that joy which the world cannot give. Give us the joy that comes from peace of conscience, from the certitude of hope, and from the possession of you, the one supreme good who alone satisfies the deepest longings of our hearts. Free us from the weight of sin and selfishness, and grant us the enthusiasm of sons and daughters who know that we have already triumphed through Christ Our Lord.

Spirit of peace, reveal to us the face of Christ, the Prince of Peace, and of the Father of Mercies. Silence our hearts and our passions so as to hear you speak in your “still small voice” (1Kings 19: 12), and recognize you as our Lord and consolation. Finally, Spirit of peace, we ask you to heal whatever woundedness and brokenness there is in our souls, so as to live and love in harmony from now on.

Amen.

  1. Thank you, Lisa! As you were speaking, I kept looking at that image of Jesus behind you and I sensed Him looking back at me. Can you tell me who the artist of that painting is? Thank you!

    1. Note from Lisa Small: Thank you so much Eve – it is nice to hear from you. I too have felt that image of Jesus piercing into my heart and soul. I checked the image and there is no signature so I am not sure who painted it. It is also painted onto a type of plaster, so not a print. So, I am sorry but I am not sure who the artist is. I could take a photo and send it to you if you like. God Bless. Lisa Small
