“You Matter: A Retreat Guide for Advent” featuring Fr. John Bartunek, LC available for download at RCSpirituality.org

“Everyone needs a spiritual guide. What if yours could be right in your pocket?”

These words come from a new promotional video on YouTube introducing the “You Matter” video Retreat Guide featuring Fr. John Bartunek , LC. The Retreat Guide will be available for download at www.RCSpirituality.org starting the first Sunday of Advent, December 2, 2012. This and future retreat guides will be available in multiple formats for maximum flexibility: video, audio, or PDF.
“Nothing is more important than spending time with God, and in today’s world nothing is more difficult,” said Fr. Bartunek in the promotional video.

The retreat guides are a pilot program – a new resource designed to help Regnum Christi members (and anyone else) grow spiritually.

Fr. Bartunek hopes to produce a new retreat guide every month, and to gradually improve them based on the feedback he receives through the website www.RCSpirituality.org. This first guide, “You Matter,” will focus on Advent. The January retreat guide is currently titled: “Trouble Hearts: A Retreat Guide on Peace of Soul.” Later guides will deal with a variety of themes.

A retreat guide consists of a brief introduction, two or three meditation starters, a conference, and a personal questionnaire to aid reflection.

Retreat guides offer “a perfect way for making a retreat experience either individually or in a small-group setting, at home, away somewhere quiet, or at a church,” explained Regnum Christi consecrated woman Lucy Honner, who is helping to publicize the new video program. “After December 2nd, you will be able to check for updates and new Retreat Guides at www.RCSpirituality.org. We are really looking forward to your feedback on this new resource.”

Fr. Bartunek commented that he believes this new resource can never really be an adequate substitute for live retreats. But he is convinced the guides can be a powerful tool both for complementary formation, and for sharing with people who may be intimidated by an invitation to a live retreat. “You can do it at your convenience and at your own pace – it’s completely flexible and non-threatening,” he explained.
