Holy Wednesday

Christ knows the hearts of his followers better than they know themselves. He knew how each of his Apostles would react to the Passion, and he knew who would betray him. He knew that Peter and the Apostles would rely on their own strength in the hour of trial and that this would be their downfall. But never did he withdraw his call.

By his prayer for Peter, the one he chose to be the Church’s rock would later strengthen the faith of his brethren.
