An Easter Farewell: Weekly Message for 04-20-2021

Dear Friends in Christ,

In the Easter Season, I can’t help feeling the joy of new life in Christ, of growth. Here in the northern hemisphere, the natural buoyancy of spring certainly helps energize our spiritual hope. And this Easter, in particular, I find myself filled with both hope and joy.

Nine years ago, we planted a little seed in the soil of the digital continent with our first Retreat Guide. That seed took root and has since put out many branches. Other Retreat Guides, RC Essays, Study Circle Guides, our Online Classroom, and many other fruits have matured on those branches and nourished digital pilgrims like yourself all over the world. I cannot think of that without marveling at God’s goodness and providence.

Ironically, at the same time, I am also feeling the sweet sadness of loss. By the end of this April, I will be moving on from being Director of RCSpirituality. As a consecrated women in Regnum Christi, full-time missionaries for the Church, we periodically receive new apostolic assignments. And I have recently been asked to move out of the digital continent and into a real-time community of Regnum Christi apostles here in Michigan.

Transitioning out of my role in the Spirituality Center has made me realize just how deeply I appreciate the wonderful team of people I have had the privilege of serving.  Our small group of contributors and volunteers has become like family to me, and the vast expanse of digital pilgrims has become part of my daily life. I am so grateful to all of you for the support and partnership we have experienced over these years and thank you for your continued dedication moving forward.

As I move into a more person-to-person ministry, RCSpirituality will continue to offer its wide array of resources under new leadership. Donna Garrett, director of formation for Regnum Christi, who has been a friend and close collaborator even before we began RCSpirituality, will be the new director. She has worked closely with the Spirituality Center for many years and has been an energetic supporter of our mission. She will be introducing herself in next week’s newsletter, so you can look forward to getting to know her better.

I am overjoyed to hand over the reins to her, and I am looking forward to moving into a role on her advisory team. I am confident that she will guide the Spirituality Center toward a new level of creativity and effectiveness. Nothing at all will be lost, and much, I am convinced, will be gained.

To be honest, I do feel as the Apostles must have felt when interacting with the Risen Jesus: filled with awe at all that Christ had achieved, but also disoriented on the cusp of a new season of life in which their relationship with Christ and his Kingdom was about to change.

Please keep me in your prayers as I continue my transition, and never doubt my enduring affection and heartfelt dedication to evangelizing this very needy and very beautiful fallen world.

Thank you, and God bless you!

Yours sincerely in Christ, Lucy Honner, CRC

Thank you so much for guiding us on the road to holiness all these years.
