Do We Radiate Peace?: Weekly Message for 10-15-2019

Dear Digital Pilgrim in Christ,

Recently a friend had to remind me that God has given me the perfect mix and amount of talent I need to live a complete life.  And what I don’t have, I simply don’t need. What God-given gifts I do have, are enough for me to live a fulfilled life and make a difference in the lives of all those around me.  Such a sobering nudge of truth (a.k.a. perspective!) helped me to reclaim the clarity and interior peace I needed to combat those self-absorbing doubts and insecurities.

At times any one of us can easily lose sight of our own purpose and how we are meant to play a part in bringing peace to the world.  It really does start right here: with internal peace—a peace with Our Lord and a deep sense of rest in what his loving providence has entrusted to us.  Such a peace has the power to radiate out into our families, our workplaces, and our communities. Cultivated in each of us through an awareness of God’s presence in our lives and shared with those around us by our good deeds toward them is essential for bringing about great change in our world.

Amidst news of tragedies, injustice, and civil unrest it can be challenging to continue to hope for peace in the world—the peace of Christ, the Prince of Peace.  As Christians, we know and accept that we live in a fallen world and every one of us faces the reality of the cross in our lives, but that the ultimate reality is the Resurrection.   In order to help us keep our eye on this reality and the eternal peace that we can only achieve through Christ, I came across these words from St. Theresa of Avila—a beloved saint and mystic. On her feast day let us ask her intercession to be instruments of peace even in moments when it seems the battle is lost.

“May today there be peace within.  May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.  May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.  May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.  May you be content knowing you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love.  It is there for each and every one of us.”  – St. Theresa of Avila

We hope you encounter that same peace and solace to experience the Lord through our resources at RCSpirituality.  The world needs great witnesses of peace.  He has given you all the gifts and talents you need to make a difference in someone else’s life.  Take time to spend with the Lord, listening to him, and you might be surprised at the strength and perseverance of his peace radiating through you!

Thank you and may God continue to bless you!

In Christ,
