Do you really believe?: Weekly Message for 11-15-2022

Dear Friends,

In just two weeks, a new liturgical year begins with the onset of Advent. For those of us who live in four season climates, it seems like we just stepped out of summer. How can we already be contemplating Advent and Christmas?   The Church in her infinite wisdom recognizes the need to re-awaken her people to the incredible gift of God to mankind, His Son.

Picture yourself, for one moment, in heaven as God the Father reveals his crazy plan of salvation for the world. God, the creator of the universe who is so passionately in love with his human creation chooses to become one of them in order to save them.  Imagine the mounting anticipation as heaven awaits the birth of Jesus, watching Mary’s womb swell with His presence. Imagine their watchful eyes on Joseph and Mary during their challenging journey to Bethlehem, until, finally, Christ is born.  Heaven can no longer contain itself as the mystery is revealed —angels burst forth in song to the shepherds in the field announcing this great gift.

Do you really believe God sent His Son from heaven to save you? Come and be amazed by what God has done for His people!

St Charles Borromeo encourages the Church to dive deep into this great mystery. “Beloved, now is the acceptable time spoken of by the Spirit, the day of salvation, peace and reconciliation: the great season of Advent. This is the time eagerly awaited by the patriarchs and prophets, the time that holy Simeon rejoiced to see. This is the season that the church has always celebrated with special solemnity. We too should always observe it with faith and love, offering praise and ​thanksgiving ​to the Father for the mercy and love he has shown us in this mystery.”
